iPass - Mobile Data Service
- Give users a consistent experience across mobile access technologies
- Get one bill for mobile data services on the iPass network along with all other access types
- Enforce the use of endpoint security products over mobile data connections
- Monitor actual connection experiences to lower help desk and troubleshooting costs
Today's workers need access to their data while on the move from almost everywhere—not just when a dial-up port is convenient or when they're within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot. With Mobile Data Service from iPass, users get quick, easy and secure connections to corporate resources through cellular network technologies.
To give users as many access options as possible, mobile data cards are supported both on and off the iPass network. You retain control over endpoint security policies, regardless of the access technology and get one bill for all remote access, including mobile data.
Unified Mobile and Wireless Connectivity
Mobile Data Service quickly, easily and securely connects users with corporate resources through cellular network technologies. Remote and mobile workers use the iPassConnect universal client to access a range of wireless WAN networks that provide high-speed data connections, including GPRS, UMTS, EDGE, EV-DO, and 1xRTT.
Consolidated Invoicing
You get the added benefit of one consolidated invoice when using mobile data on the iPass network. iPass has integrated 1xRTT and EV-DO service in the U.S and GPRS service in Singapore into our virtual network of over 300 network providers. This is the first step in aggregating mobile data operators in the same way that iPass brings together network providers of all types. With iPass as the sole provider for all remote connectivity, including mobile data services, IT departments get one bill and gain the advantage of being able to track expenses and control costs more easily.
Extend Policy Based Security
Mobile Data Service includes integration with leading endpoint security tools such as VPNs, personal firewalls and anti-virus software so that IT managers can address network security threats caused by mobile workers using out-of-date endpoint security software.
Options include:
- Endpoint Policy Management. This optional iPass-hosted service lets IT staff enforce the proper configuration and use of security software, automatically update OS security patches and anti-virus definition files on endpoint devices, and centrally manage policy enforcement—all without any user intervention.
- iPass intelligent Online Quality (iOQ®). This optional service consolidates the information collected by iPass Mobile Data during each connection attempt, and provides detailed reports to help desk staff to facilitate troubleshooting, improve customer service and proactively address user connectivity issues.
Service Requirements
To implement Mobile Data Service, all you need is a notebook PC with Windows XP or Windows 2000, iPassConnect and a supported mobile data card.
